We Believe: 30 Days to Understanding Your American Heritage

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) October 28, 2010

Nashville-based Dunham Books is set to release the most definitive and comprehensive book to understanding our American heritage, "We Believe: 30 Days to Understanding Your American Heritage" (October). "We Believe" is designed to be a quick and easy way for Americans to understand what we, as a nation, believe and the core values upon which our great country was built and continues to thrive on.

Unlike no other book in recent memory, "We Believe", co-authored by Jack Watts and David Dunham, is a powerful 30-day tutorial to understanding what our Founding Fathers believed, coupled with the erudite wisdom from subsequent generations, in the hopes of making us all better-informed Americans.

Staggeringly aware of the millions of Americans with limited understanding of the core values upon which our nation was established, the authors of "We Believe" will take readers on a historical journey from the Declaration of Independence to the United States Constitution to the Bill of Rights to the words of modern-day bearers of our American heritage. "We Believe" echoes with the voices of great leaders including James Madison, Thomas Jefferson, President Lincoln, JFK, Dr. Martin Luther King, President Reagan, among others--and how their words shaped, and continue to shape, our futures.

Readers will revel in the patriotic words of Patrick Henry and his "Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death" cry to John F. Kennedy's unforgettable "Ask Not" inaugural address and Martin Luther King's moving "I Have a Dream" speech.

Readers of "We Believe" will come away inspired by the thoughts, ideas and writings of these great leaders and infused with a sense of responsibility to preserve those very same American values for future generations.

"Our purpose in writing 'We Believe' is to provide Americans of all ages--regardless of their political persuasion--a concise and easy-to-understand book about our country's founding," said David Dunham. "Jack and I wrote 'We Believe' so that readers can better understand the beliefs and principles that have shaped our laws and policies in the hopes that the sacrifices of our forefathers will have not been in vain."

"Our hope is that readers of 'We Believe' will become citizens who better understand our shared history and are willing to take and make a stand for the values we hold so dear," said co-author Jack Watts. "With perils from without and within, understanding our core American values is more important than ever."

"We Believe" successfully encapsulates 200-plus years of our American heritage into one document and boldly challenges its citizenry not to let the American dream and all that we stand for become unrecognizable and slip away.

Part of his journey involves religious abuse, which is why he has also written "Recovery from Religious Abuse: 11 Steps to Spiritual Freedom" (Winter 2011). Both books will be published by Howard Books, a division of Simon & Schuster.
