The Bair Foundation Foster Families and Case Manager Win 2010 Texas Foster Family Association Outstanding Awards

A true advocate for the children in her care

The annual TFFA (Texas Foster Family Association) Conference held in Austin, TX brought several surprises for The Bair Foundation. Twenty-six Bair Foundation foster parents and 6 staff members were nominated for TFFA’s Outstanding Awards. The conference was attended by over 750 foster care professionals and families from around the state. It included intensive training, lectures by professionals in their field, sharing ideas & experiences, and a recognition dinner.

Recognized & Awarded for their exceptional service to foster children across the state of Texas, 3 Bair Foundation foster families and a Bair Foundation Case Manager were selected among hundreds of nominees to win the highest achievement in four of six categories.

At the conference to receive their awards were Robert & Sheila Lee, from The Bair Foundation- Lubbock office. They were described as “remarkable foster parents who adopted six children and who currently foster 3 medically needy children. They never miss an appointment and will do whatever it takes to meet the medical needs of the children in their home.” The Lee’s won 2010 “Foster Family of the Year – Primary Medical Needs.”

Rae Mays, from The Bair Foundation – Austin office was awarded the 2010 “Single Foster Parent of the Year.” She was described by workers as “a true advocate for the children in her care.” “She is on a first name basis with school staff, therapists, doctors, and dentists to ensure the best possible care for her children.”

Words like “excellent case manager, compassionate, friendly, professional, and going far beyond what is expected” were used to describe, Sarah Nicolai, Case Manager from The Bair Foundation Tyler office and winner of the 2010 “Case Manager of the Year-Private Agency” award.
