Are you looking for live music for your holiday event or concert series in Connecticut? The Celtic trio known as Celticity, based out of Norwich, Connecticut, offers an enchanting holiday music program called “A Celtic Christmas.”
The Connecticut Celtic Christmas performance combines classical, renaissance, and traditional Christmas carols to create a multi-cultural holiday experience perfect for all audiences. In addition to favorite Celtic ballads, upbeat jigs and reels, Celticity offers traditional Christmas favorites like "Sans Day Carol", "What Child Is This," and "O Holy Night."
Connecticut's favorite Celtic trio consists of Sylvie Harris on Classical Guitar, Megan Sweeney on Flute, and Phred Mileski, Soprano. Phred also plays an Irish drum called a "bodhran." All three women hold degrees from prominent music conservatories in New England. Sylvie Harris and Phred Mileski both teach at the Christ Church School of the Arts and Megan Sweeney is a Director of Music at the Plainfield Schools.
In addition to traditional holiday music, Celticity has several theme concerts to choose from. For example, the trio offers and all Irish program for Saint Patrick’s Day, a Celtic Loves Song program for Valentine’s Day, a Summer Solstice Program, and a Celtic-Renaissance Faire program for the fall. A favorite program, for the more traditional music concert chamber series, is the Celtic-Classical program where Celticity performs traditional and contemporary Celtic and Classical Music.
Celticity is a family-friendly, multi-cultural experience with something for everyone! Fans of Classical, Celtic, Folk and Acoustic music will enjoy Celticity's pan-Celtic repertoire which encompasses music from Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Brittany (France), Galitia (Spain), Canada and the United States, from the Renaissance period to modern day composers.
Celticity is at home on both big and small stages from grand concert halls to quaint chamber settings and a variety of venues in-between including festivals, colleges, vineyards, coffee houses, country clubs, private functions and corporate events. And, Celticity does travel outside Connecticut to Rhode Island and Massachusetts!
