Attorney Rick Fleming, head of the Social Security Department at the Law Offices of James Scott Farrin, was recently named one of 30 finalists for North Carolina Lawyers Weekly’s Emerging Legal Leaders Award.
Though its Emerging Legal Leaders Award, North Carolina Lawyers Weekly is recognizing a select group of attorneys - all of whom have practiced for 10 years or fewer - for their service to the profession and their communities.
Ten winners from among the finalists will be announced on Tuesday, Nov. 16 at noon at the Proximity Hotel in Greensboro, NC.
Rick Fleming is a North Carolina Board Certified Specialist in Social Security Disability Law and is fluent in both Spanish and English. His volunteer efforts include volunteering as a bilingual attorney at the NC Bar Association’s annual 4All Event, manning the NC Advocates for Justice (NCAJ) booth at Raleigh’s annual Fiesta del Pueblo and participating in Univision 40’s annual “talk with an attorney” event, called “Linea Abierta.”
He is also extremely active in the North Carolina Advocates for Justice (NCAJ), serving as a Chair of the Disability Advocacy Section and member of the Board of Governors, Hispanic/Latino Affairs Division and the Workers’ Compensation Section. He served as co-chair of multiple NCAJ Continuing Legal Education (CLE) seminars during the past five years.
Other organizations Rick Fleming is involved with include the North Carolina Bar Association (NCBA), the National Organization of Social Security Claimants’ Representatives (NOSSCR), where he is a sustaining member, and the American Association for Justice (AAJ).
