The latest free release of the popular PocketSLP iPhone app offers a new data export feature with dramatic advances in how speech therapists manage their practices. Therapists can now import client data into spreadsheets, word processors, or database systems, allowing them to keep accurate records on all of their clients on their home or business computers.

Turn Present Levels of Performance Into Charts

The ability to turn present levels of performance into charts will really turn some heads in the speech therapy community.

Synapse Apps, LLC announces a free upgrade to its popular speech therapy iPhone application, PocketSLP, that promises to dramatically improve the way speech and language pathologists (SLPs) use their digital tools. PocketSLP has been extremely popular among SLPs since its first release in March. Since that time, Synapse Apps has released several improvements based on feedback from users. PocketSLP has always had a record-keeping feature, but now therapists can choose to email data specifically by session, client, date, or the entire database in a standard format that can easily be used in spreadsheets and database management systems.

“SLPs need to keep meticulous records on their clients,” said Corey Walker, a practicing SLP and president of Synapse Apps. “With the advent of what is now being referred to as a ‘digital revolution in speech therapy,' it only makes sense to integrate our diagnostic and therapeutic tools with our record-keeping.”

As a pioneer in using digital tools in therapy, Synapse Apps continues to push the envelope with this latest release. The scoring option in PocketSLP has been one of the more popular features. By allowing the scoring data to be exported in a standard format, SLPs can now easily interpret data for reporting and data analysis like never before. This version of PocketSLP also includes a new feature that allows deleting of data from within the application if needed.

According to Karen-Lopez Walker, co-founder of Synapse Apps and also a practicing SLP, “The ability to turn present levels of performance into charts will really turn some heads in the speech therapy community. With this new update, Pocket SLP not only saves therapists a significant amount of time with calculating data but now they can easily present progress to parents and teachers in a way that is visually appealing and easy to understand.”

Synapse Apps is also offering a free sample spreadsheet that has been specifically designed to demonstrate how data can be used to create charts and graphs. Therapists simply paste data sent by Pocket SLP into the spreadsheet to see present levels of performance turned into pie charts, bar graphs, and even a line graph that shows how clients are progressing from session to session. The spreadsheet can be downloaded from their website at http://pocketslp.com/spreadsheet/. In addition to the sample spreadsheet, Synapse Apps is also offering a free newsletter that will be used to keep customers abreast of new developments, new products, and product upgrades. Signup for the newsletter can be found on their website at http://pocketslp.com/signup.
