Bluff Manufacturing Takes Marketing on the Road

New 10' x 30' banner accompanies yard ramp deliveries throughout U.S.

Bluff Manufacturing, Inc., a national provider of dock, material handling and warehouse safety equipment to companies throughout the Americas, has added mobile marketing to its promotional efforts - literally. The company recently "rolled out" a 10' tall x 30' long banner to accompany its steel yard ramps to destinations throughout the United States.

Andrea Curreri, Bluff Manufacturing's director of marketing and sales, came up with the idea for the banner as a creative and eye-catching way to promote the company's dock, warehouse and loading ramp equipment - which includes steel and aluminum yard ramps, dock boards, dock levelers, mezzanines structures, conveyor support, landings, stairways and caged ladders, and Crash Guard industrial safety products.

Capitalizing on the concept of a mobile billboard, Curreri saw the flatbed interstate transport of the company's yard ramps as a unique opportunity to "take the show on the road." Measuring six to seven feet in width, 30 to 36 feet in length, and nearly 7,000 pounds in weight with capacities ranging up to 30,000 pounds for standard products and more for custom designs, Bluff Manufacturing's yard ramps are shipped upright on their sides via a flatbed trailer. After researching transportation safety regulations, it was confirmed the enormous banner could be affixed to the trailer to go along for the ride.

"Many people often spot things while traveling along the highway and wonder 'What is that?'" said Curreri. "Bluff Manufacturing is answering that question with its traveling billboard by saying 'Another Bluff yard ramp on its way to work.'"

The Texas-size banner, which made its maiden voyage September 29 to Miami, Florida, was designed in California and took several months to fabricate. Along with the need for extra heavy duty fabric, the Bluff banner also required a maximum number of attachment points in order to secure the banner to the yard ramp. Reinforcing webbed ribbing was sewn through the center of the banner to allow grommet placement along the center line, which had to be specially done by a company in Los Angeles.

"This one-of-a-kind banner is another example of Bluff Manufacturing's innovation and willingness to try new things," commented Clark Smith, president of Bluff Manufacturing. "Being a leader is what has made us successful for the past 40 years."
