Sun Devil Auto: Complete Auto Repair, Established in 1978, Family owned and operated

On November 3, Sun Devil Auto an Arizona-grown, family-owned and operated auto-repair company offering complete repair in the automotive aftermarket industry is inviting Arizona State University design students to participate in Sun Devil Auto’s Ultimate Urban Design Challenge. When asked about what the owners were hoping to accomplish, marketing director Jackie Carro said “the company is looking for a retrospective design concept that effectively captures the Sun Devil Auto brand of the late 70’s, (home-grown, family-owned, community, grassroots marketing) while also reflecting a more modern-day, sophisticated level of auto repair services that it offers: state-of-the art diagnostics, alternative to the dealership, 'green' approach to recycling liquids, oil, etc. Successfully melding this design concept with Sun Devil Auto’s 'vintage' 1931 location set in the urban arts district of downtown Phoenix will present the ultimate challenge.”

Sun Devil Auto is looking for teams that are comprised of students studying any/some/all disciplines: architecture, industrial design, interior design, landscape architecture, urban design, visual communication design, and environmental science are encouraged to participate and generate a 24” x 60” vertical board reflecting paint, fixtures, landscape, sculptural, window décor, architectural details (fascia) and ideas. (Recommendations must be compliant with city of Phoenix ordinances.)

There will be awards as follows: Third Place Team ~ $250, Second Place Team ~ $500, First Place Team ~ $1000.
