"When a product earns recognition in our survey, it really means something. These tools have proven themselves out where it really counts—not in a reviewer’s lab, but in the field," says Visual Studio Magazine Editor in Chief Michael Desmond.

This week Visual Studio Magazine (VSM) announced the winners of its 18th annual Readers Choice Awards. The 2010 winners are chosen by the readers of VSM and honor the best Visual Studio-related tools. NCover (http://www.ncover.com), the premier .NET code coverage tool, was selected by readers for a Merit Award, which means that NCover secured a high number of votes from VSM readers for adding significant value as a .NET developer tool.
“We rely on Visual Studio Magazine subscribers to drive our annual Readers Choice Awards, because they are among the most demanding and knowledgeable developers on the planet,” said Editor in Chief Michael Desmond. “Our readers live and die by their tools. So when a product earns recognition in our survey, it really means something. These tools have proven themselves out where it really counts—not in a reviewer’s lab, but in the field. I commend all the winners in this year’s VSM Readers Choice Awards."
What is NCover (http://www.ncover.com)? NCover help developers and QA analysts quickly and easily identify untested areas of code to help teams find bugs earlier in the development process, reducing project cost and risk. Whether deployed on the desktop or on the build server, NCover promotes development productivity by coupling multiple code coverage metrics with a complexity metric and advanced filtering to help teams quickly highlight the riskiest area of code for further testing or refactoring. Any type of testing- from user interface and functional testing to unit testing- is monitored by NCover supporting organization wide adoption of quality standards. NCover allows managers to merge reports from all aspects of a project into a unified view of risk and then empowers managers to drive team wide quality standards using thresholds. Because NCover works with multiple testing and development tools, it provides individuals, teams, and entire organizations the critical feedback needed to successfully transition to agile development, continuous integration, automated testing, and unit testing.
Peter Waldschmidt, CEO of NCover, shared his appreciation, “We are grateful to the .NET community for this award and their support over the last 7 years. We work hard to build great products that help our customers build better software and this award confirms we are on the right track. We would not be where we are today without our capable and loyal customers. We have an amazing new release of NCover coming and we’re excited to share that with our customers and the community when it’s ready.”
NCover was created by Peter Waldschmidt in 2003 to help him with his own projects. NCover was the first code coverage tool created for the .NET platform. NCover (http://www.ncover.com) is now used by 1 in 4 of the Fortune 500. NCover LLC is located in Greenville, SC.
