Annual Mid-Atlantic event organized by Stafford Area Soccer Association to showcase 300 teams this March.

Team Applications are now available for the 18th Annual SASA St. Patrick's Day Tournament. The tournament, organized by Stafford Area Soccer Association (SASA), will be held on March 19-20, 2011.

The St. Patrick's Day Tournament is one of the top spring pre-season tournaments in the Mid-Atlantic. Last year, 264 boys and girls teams between the ages of 9 and 19 participated in the event. In total, over 12,000 participants, parents, siblings, coaches, volunteers, and spectators attended, making the tournament one of the largest events of the year in Stafford County, VA.

"We're incredibly excited about this year's tournament," commented SASA General Manager Barry Hill. "Preparations are already underway to make this tournament the best in SASA history."

The St. Patrick's Day Tournament offers several great features including great competition featuring teams from 7 states, time-saving Saturday morning check-in, 3 guaranteed games per team, excellent customer service, and good weather, just to name a few.

"There's no better way for a soccer team to start their spring season," said SASA President Tim Conklin. "Our volunteers work incredibly hard to make sure each player has a positive experience."

This year, 300 teams are expected to participate. With multiple new venues pledging their support, 2011 could be the largest tournament in its history.

The event serves as SASA's primary club fundraiser with proceeds contributing to a soccer-specific facility being planned in Stafford County.
