K Alliance, a software company that provides e-learning solutions to today’s busy working professionals, has earned the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC)’s WBE (Women’s Business Enterprise) certification. According to Mimi Kwan, K Alliance’s president, “Earning the WBE certification enables us to put our diversity to work. K Alliance has always had the capacity to serve large contracts, but now, we have a valuable certification that allows us satisfy additional diversity requirements.”
WBENC requires extensive documentation to validate that a company is 51 percent owned and controlled by one or more women. The woman or women in control of the organization must be U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents. If the business is publicly owned, the woman or women must own or control 51 percent of the equity. In order to become certified by WBENC, the company must undergo a two-step certification process consisting of submitting and application and supporting documentation as well as participating in an on-site review and interview.
K Alliance has been solving training challenges since its inception through the development of innovative video-based training (VBT) solutions. For example, K Alliance offers online training courses that allow even the busiest of working professionals to study and learn new business or IT skills. Many large corporations and government agencies have counted on courseware from K Alliance to ensure that their employees have the latest business and technical skills. Now that K Alliance has earned the recognition as a WBE, K Alliance’s customers can solve their training challenges while also fulfilling their diversity requirements.
“With the recession severely impacting businesses of all sizes, training budgets have suffered,” Kwan explains. “While companies recognize the value of video-based training (VBT) programs such as those offered by K Alliance, many are under pressure to select vendors that meet specific diversity criteria, limiting their options. As a WBE, K Alliance offers both high quality training solutions and diversity.”
