Schools.com -- the Web's one-stop-shop for online schools and campus programs -- recently launched a new Spanish-language section to provide Spanish speakers with easy access to education- and career-focused information and opportunities.

We want to help the Spanish-speaking adult find the right school to help them advance both their career and their level of education.

Schools.com -- the Web's one-stop-shop for online schools and campus programs -- recently launched a new Spanish-language section to provide Spanish speakers with easy access to education- and career-focused information and opportunities. Phase one of the build out includes an all-Spanish homepage, news articles on a variety of topics, by-subject school listings and more than 30 detailed profiles of online- and campus-based degree areas.

"The goal of our Spanish-language section is to deliver useful information and educational opportunities to a fast-growing segment of the population,” said Seth Restaino, General Manager of Schools.com. "We want to help the Spanish-speaking adult find the right school to help them advance both their career and their level of education."

Plans for the all-Spanish section came in the wake of the Census Bureau's report that 16 U.S. states have at least half-a-million Hispanic residents. Also, in June 2010, the Pew Research Center found that Hispanic college freshman enrollment had increased 15 percent from 2007 - 2008, the largest year-over-year upsurge of any ethnicity.

For phase two of the initiative, Schools.com plans to incorporate a number of new elements into the Spanish-language fold, including:

  • An estimated 150 additional degree-area profiles to mirror the quantity offered in English
  • Spanish-speaking bloggers to interact with visitors on a more grassroots level
  • A Spanish-language Q&A function to answer questions submitted directly to Schools.com

"This is only the beginning of what we plan to offer the Spanish-speaking adult learner on Schools.com,” said Restaino. “We are listening and will continue to tailor site content and features specifically to our Spanish-speaking audience. We will be rolling out several exciting tools over the next 6 months intended to provide Spanish-speakers with more direct access to career advisors and faculty from colleges throughout the U.S., and to let them drive more of their educational decision-making online. Ultimately, we plan to arm Spanish speakers with the tools and information they need to succeed. ”
