‘GYLO Study Aids’ provide quick, easy reference tools for high school and higher education courses. The mobile learning apps are available for iPads, iPhones, iPod Touches, and Android devices. Two types of Study Aids are offered - glossaries and flashcards. The line of Study Aid apps cover subjects ranging from General Psychology to Moby Dick to Statistics.

“We’re excited to continue delivering value to students around the world through research-based mobile learning tools.” Dr. Michael Mayrath, GYLO President and CEO

GetYa Learn On (GYLO) – an educational software company – today announced a new line of apps called “GYLO Study Aids” just in time to prepare students for final exams. The apps are available as both glossaries and flashcards with introductory level topics including General Psychology, Public Relations 101, Moby Dick, Survey Research, and General Statistics. More specialized math-focused topics include Structural Equation Modeling (SEM), Regression, and Correlation.

The launch of the new line of apps comes on the heels of a study that was published in late August in conjunction with Abilene Christian University (ACU), in which GYLO’s flagship app called “Statistics I” was successfully integrated within an introductory Statistics class in order to investigate its effectiveness as a tool for teaching and learning. In contrast to GYLO’s Statistics I app – which includes comprehensive lessons, simulations, calculators, and quizzes – the new line of GYLO Study Aids are designed instead to be used as a quick reference tool that students use on-the-go to memorize terms and phrases in various college courses.

“College students are one of the fastest-growing segments of smartphone users, and they’re certainly early adopters, so it made sense to us to provide them with quick, easy, affordable reference tools to study anywhere and anytime,” said Dr. Michael Mayrath, GYLO President and CEO. “We’re excited to continue delivering value to students around the world through research-based mobile learning tools.”

Technology experts expect the iPad and other mobile computing platforms will help reshape higher education and revolutionize the way students study, especially as more colleges and universities across the country adopt touchscreen devices to use inside and outside of the classroom.

The glossary and flashcard apps are available for the Apple iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. The glossary apps are also available on Android devices, and the flashcard apps for Android will be published before Thanksgiving.
