I’ve been able to integrate the Alertcaster API and service into my application far easier and faster than if I tried to figure it out myself. Also, its customizable features that include sending alerts to a lot of people have really made the difference

Alertcaster comes out of stealth mode today and is now widely available to developer communities globally. Developers who want to incorporate device, sensor and M2M alerts into their applications can now plug in the simple Alertcaster API and trigger alerts to one or many people, worldwide. Alertcaster enables the more than 1 billion non-computer remote management and monitoring devices, sensors and apps connected to the Internet with the people and systems that monitor those devices through voice, SMS text and email alerts. Examples of such M2M devices that can trigger alerts are sensors that monitor refrigeration units at restaurants, device heating units in office buildings, smart meters devices in the utility industry, medical equipment device monitoring, systems that monitor sump pumps in a vacation house and home or business security system devices.
According to the telecom analyst firm Berg Insight, the global revenue for machine-to-machine (M2M) services was $4.3 billion in 2008 and is expected to rise to more than $12B by 2012.
Alertcaster will be able to connect these devices to whoever is monitoring via a voice call, a SMS text message and/or an email. Whether the person monitoring the device is locally based, across the country or half-way around the world, Alertcaster can send alerts and reach them.
- Have your application send alerts
- Sends voice, SMS text and email alerts – globally
- Can send multiple alerts at once with ability for recipients to reply to the alert
- Free six months service for sign-ups before year end
- Easy dashboard to manage alerts and your account
- Simple integration for developers (iPhone, Android, .NET, Linux, IBM, etc.)
- Provides developers device and application connectivity via an API
Alertcaster provides connectivity to others who want it but are not sure where to start. Already, developers in the UK and USA have implemented the Alertcaster service to their applications. “I’ve been able to integrate the Alertcaster API and service into my application far easier and faster than if I tried to figure it out myself. Also, its customizable features that include sending alerts to a lot of people have really made the difference,” said Matt, one of Alertcaster’s developers based in the UK.
“The beauty of Alertcaster is its simplicity and clean integration to applications of all types,” said Brian Gratch, CEO of Alertcaster. “From applications that monitor devices, M2M systems, sensors and secure enterprise installations developers can now bring a new feature set to their work.”
For the developer, Alertcaster provides a simple but powerful dashboard management panel to manage everything related to the alerts. Activating Alertcaster, deploying, monitoring use, customizing the messages, setting up contact lists, adding new features, all is streamlined to minimize effort.
“Our objective is to take the complexity and risk out of implementing a state-of-the-art enterprise strength alert system for all types of applications,” said Rishi Nag, CTO of Alertcaster. “From a straightforward implementation at a university laboratory to a massive smart meter or healthcare deployment, Alertcaster is designed to cleanly integrate into existing systems.”
Developers can choose one of three levels of Alertcaster service. The basic service, which is free, provides a fully functional API and dashboard with the ability to send alerts (SMS or email) to one person. The silver tier provides all the basic plus full customization of messaging, sending alerts to 5 recipients and replies to those alerts. The top Gold tier provides all of the silver plus replies to alerts, a higher number of alerts sent per month and voice alerts.
For a limited time, developers who sign up for Alertcaster will get 6 months of Silver tiered service for free.
For companies that already monitor equipment with a wide customer base, Alertcaster can be white-labeled and re-sold with unique branding. Regardless of how Alertcaster is implemented, the full range of capabilities, support and top tier reliability and connectivity is included.
Alertcaster is also configurable to support multiple languages.
