New York, NY (PRWEB) November 4, 2010
Periconi, LLC founder and principal, James Periconi, a well-known environmental law practitioner in New York City, Superlawyer for the Metro New York area, recently returned from the annual meeting of the International Network of Boutique Law Firms, held this year in Toronto at Le Méridien King Edward. http://www.inblf.com.
“This was the most significant gathering of INBLF’s well-respected law firms from all over the world, from Paris to Hong Kong, from Colombia to Australia, as well as the United States, Canada and Mexico, who together form a tremendous network of lawyers from around the world committed to personalized legal services for the business community.
“INBLF’s admissions criteria are tough: each American law firm’s representative must, at a minimum, be Martindale-Hubbell AV Preeminent rated. A significant number of its members have been named Superlawyers or have been Chambers-rated or both. There are 43 chapters in the United States alone. The same criteria have been applied to our European, South American, Asian and Australian partners. It’s an exceptional group of lawyers who also happen to be extremely congenial.” INBLF plans on having its Second Annual Asian Summit in Shanghai in 2011. Its next annual meeting takes place in September, 2011, in Paris.
“We in INBLF believe that businesses globally (and global businesses) do not need behemoth global law firms to represent them vigorously and personally in today’s world. What they need is practical advice attuned to local economic forces and knowledgeable about the players and rhythms of each of the countries in which they operate.” At one of the meetings of the entire group, Periconi spoke about INBLF’s American law firms’ commitment to serve their international affiliates with the kind of personalized care these firms have given each other domestically.
Periconi is a former Chair (2003-2004) of the 1,300 member Environmental Law Section of the New York State Bar Association. Prior to entering private practice in 1989 as counsel to the prestigious boutique environmental law firm, Berle, Kass & Case, Periconi was the first chief of hazardous waste enforcement in the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, in charge of the largest State Superfund program in the country, one of the few State programs that actually predated the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Superfund program.
Periconi, LLC’s initiative in expanding its reach more regularly outside of the United States follows upon several developments. Mr. Periconi has for the last two years also been named in a legal publication usually reserved for large and medium sized law firms: Who’s Who Legal, the International Who’s Who of Business Lawyers.
http://www.whoswholegal.com/. In years past, he was involved in international environmental auditing issues, as chair of the Legal Committee of the Environmental Auditing Roundtable. He has also recently consulted with a global auditing firm to advise on a variety of legal issues affecting environmental auditors, such as what legal privilege might attach to such audit reports.
