The results are in and there’s no denying Nashville is THE Music City! This morning Travel + Leisure announced the results of their annual America’s Favorite Cities survey and Nashville was named #1 for Live Music/Concerts and Bands, Affordable Getaway and Affordable Hotels.
The America’s Favorite Cities ranking lines up with a recent branding survey conducted by the Nashville Convention & Visitors Bureau (NCVB) in which 99.1% of respondents said Music City lives up to its name/reputation.
“Over the past seven years the hospitality and music industries have worked diligently to ensure that visitors to Nashville have an authentic, musical entertainment experience in a creative, affordable environment,” said Butch Spyridon, President of the Nashville Convention & Visitor Bureau. “The city can be proud of its unique musical history and celebrate the diverse, prevalent music scene found in Nashville today.”
The Nashville CVB branding survey results also garnered high remarks when asked about authenticity and diversity in music. 99% of respondents said their experience in Music City was authentic and 91.1% said they found diversity in the types of music available in Nashville. Nashville was not only highlighted in this year’s Travel + Leisure survey for its music and affordability but also fared well in other categories including: #3 Friendly, #4 Barbecue, #5 Antique stores, #6 Vintage shops and flea markets, #6 Safety, #7 Hamburgers and #7 Wild Weekend. In other media coverage, Nashville is currently featured in the November issue of NYLON magazine in an article covering the music, art and culture of the city, where Nashville rock band The Ettes were asked “Is Nashville really Music City?” The response: “There’s truth to that name.” When asked what surprised the band the most about the city, the answer was “Everybody’s nice.”….”It’s nice how supportive the community is, no matter what music you play. Everyone just wants to help out and is really cool.”
