The Girl Scout promise includes service to our country, as well as others. Thanks to ShipShapeUSA we can focus the money we’ve earned -- through our nut and cookie sales -- on filling stockings for veterans.
Pollock Pines, CA (PRWEB) November 9, 2010
This year, Christmas is coming early for some patriotic and philanthropic-minded U.S. organizations: they are making sure that, come December 25th, our overseas troops and veterans have stockings full of gifts to open. On the east coast, the bond division of a major investment bank has adopted a U.S. platoon in Afghanistan and will be sending platoon members sought-after gifts such as handwarmers, candy, and Christmas decorations -- all packed in Tony’s Stockings, stocking-shaped mailing boxes made by ShipShapeUSA. Bond Division team members have scheduled a “Stuff It and Ship It” day in mid-November to make sure these gifts make it to the troops in time for Christmas.
And on the west coast, the Rohnert Park, CA Girl Scout troop is teaming with several other community organizations and volunteers to stuff stockings for veterans at Yountville Veterans Home in Yountville, California. Last year, the troop sent packages to a National Guard unit that has since returned from Iraq. This year, the girls are thrilled to be putting their gifts in bright red stocking boxes that will be delivered to the veterans in Yountville, the VA Hospital serving all of Northern California. Troop leader Kathy Place says: “The Girl Scout promise includes service to our country, as well as others. Thanks to ShipShapeUSA we can focus the money we’ve earned -- through our nut and cookie sales -- on filling stockings for veterans.”
Petaluma Valley Athletic Club is also getting into the Christmas spirit early, and sending Christmas gifts in Tony’s Stocking boxes to troops overseas. Chris Oakes, Director of the Tennis Program at PVAC, said: “We want to make sure our troops know we’re thinking of them and honoring their sacrifices. All the members here are very excited about being able to contribute to the troops, and make their Christmases away from home a little brighter.”
This week ShipShapeUSA offers Veteran’s Day discounts and Vet donations.
In honor of Veteran’s Day, ShipShapeUSA is donating stockings to veteran’s organizations. Through November 13th, customers using the code: ForAVet1 when placing orders at the company’s website get $1 off their orders. And for every five stockings ordered, ShipShapeUSA will donate another stocking to organizations that are filling the stockings and delivering them to American veterans.
Last year, hundreds of Tony’s Stockings were stuffed with presents by volunteers and delivered to U.S. troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, adding a note of cheer and bringing a little bit of home to our overseas service men and women. Information on what to send to troops, and how to send it, is available on the ShipShapeUSA website.
