Signs Express (Crawley) has installed an impressive new sign to welcome workers and visitors to the Manor Royal Business District.

Manor Royal Business District's new gateway sign

It provides firms already on Manor Royal and those thinking of moving here with yet another reason to do business in Crawley. We are really keen to support businesses to continue the work that has started.

As a Manor Royal-based business, Signs Express (Crawley) was up against three other sign companies in the area to win the contract to provide the new look external signs, but it was the signage specialist’s innovative design ideas which caught the eye of the council panel.

The main brief was to produce signage which would maintain and represent the status of the business district as a modern, dynamic business destination and the new signs needed to fit with its new image.

The new gateway sign which uses aluminium panels rolled to form a unique curved shaped ‘S’ was designed to follow on from the ribbon logo provided by the council as part of the new branding. The edges and unique angler faces feature digitally printed corporate colours produced on anti peel vinyl and include the logo to both sides of the sign.

Measuring an impressive 7.5 metres wide by three metres high, the sign is located at the junction of London Road (the A23) and Manor Royal. As part of the project two other smaller-scale signs were also produced – one 5 metres wide by 2 metres high and one totem sign 1.5 metres by 4 metres - both signs used the same curved design and have been installed at strategic entry points with another planned to be installed on a footbridge in the coming weeks.

Earlier this year the Manor Royal masterplan was launched to coincide with the area's 60th birthday. It looks to maximise Manor Royal's future commercial benefits through high quality design, amenity provision and sustainable transport and infrastructure. All of this will help attract long-term inward investment.

Councillor Claire Denman, Crawley Borough Council's Cabinet member for Planning and Economic Development, said: "The new signage creates a fantastic entry point to Manor Royal and embodies everything we want the Business District to be.

"It provides firms already on Manor Royal and those thinking of moving here with yet another reason to do business in Crawley. We are really keen to support businesses to continue the work that has started."
