Second Annual ‘Share Christmas Memories’ Promotion Offers Grand Prize Resort Stay

When we launched this promotion last year, we were overwhelmed by the number of people who not only participated, but told us how much they enjoyed the opportunity to share their special memories with others.

Whether it’s Grandma’s powerful rendition of “I’ll Be Home For Christmas” or the annual fruit cake eating (or throwing) contest, every family has its own traditions at Christmas that become the memories that carry on from year to year. In the spirit of the season, and with the hope that showcasing these tender, funny and special moments will make the holidays a little more meaningful, Gaylord Hotels is once again hosting its “Share Christmas Memories” promotion. As an added bonus, participants are invited to post their favorite Christmas moments within an online community and have a chance to win a stay at one of America’s four most festive resorts.

“When we launched this promotion last year, we were overwhelmed by the number of people who not only participated, but told us how much they enjoyed the opportunity to share their special memories with others,” said Rich Maradik, senior vice president and chief marketing officer of Gaylord Hotels. “Christmas is serious business at our hotels - we feature millions of twinkling lights; signature attractions like our popular ICE! exhibits; live entertainment; over-the-top decorations; SNOW!, the brand new attraction at three of our hotels; and many more surprises.”

“The bottom line is that the holidays are a time for emotional connections,” added Maradik. “And this promotion is another way to help our guests enrich their holiday experiences.”

Everyone is invited to upload a favorite photo, original poem or story, or post a video that exemplifies their personal spirit of Christmas. Family, friends and colleagues are sure to enjoy becoming part of this Christmas memory community by viewing the posts and sharing their own. Joining the fun is simple: visit http://www.ShareChristmasMemories.com from now through January 4, 2011. The randomly chosen winner receives a Grand Prize trip for two to the Gaylord Hotels resort of his or her choice, which includes an atrium garden room for two nights, daily breakfast buffet, one spa treatment per person at Relâche Spa and roundtrip airfare on Southwest Airlines.

Christmas at Gaylord Hotels

Gaylord resorts are located in or near four of the country’s most desirable and exciting destinations: Orlando, Dallas, Washington, D.C and Nashville. Each hotel offers the country’s “coolest” holiday attractions, breathtaking decorations, live entertainment, themed events and more. They not only are the perfect place to share Christmas memories; they offer a plentiful variety of ways to make new ones.

Oversized wreaths, colorful trees, ornate details and millions of twinkling lights provide a breathtaking view from every direction are just the beginning of the Gaylord Hotels Christmas experience. Taking measured pride in their roles as the most festive Christmas destinations in the nation, each hotel begins the decorating several months before the official tree lighting celebrations that kick off the season. And it shows. Inside the signature atriums, guests are enchanted by a wonderland of light-circles, towering Christmas trees, rainbows of dazzling color and brilliant, illuminated fountains whose shooting water dances to Christmas melodies. Strolling carolers, indoor snowfalls, live reindeer and gingerbread house decorating are the delightful touches that keep visitors returning year after year.

Cold as ICE!
For the first time, Gaylord Hotels, known for being the place to celebrate Christmas memories, is hosting four different themed versions of its signature, award-winning attraction ICE! The attractions will transport guests to a fanciful indoor world of ice, hand-carved from nearly two million pounds of ice at each property. The resorts feature one-of-a-kind, whimsical wonderlands made up of colorful, larger-than-life, 3-D ice sculptures of beloved storybook characters, slippery ice slides and memorable holiday scenes. Each year, more than 100 artisans from Harbin, China, a city known for its master ice carving skills, travel to the U.S. to create magnificent seasonal displays for Gaylord Hotels. To temper the chill and avoid a nose as red as Rudolph’s, visitors are bundled in oversized parkas (on loan from the resorts) while touring the charming fantasyland, which is kept at a frosty nine degrees Fahrenheit.

This year’s ICE! themes, which vary at each property, will feature loveable characters such as the Grinch, Santa Claus, Kris Kringle, grouchy Mayor Burgermeister Meisterburger, Charlie Brown, Snoopy and the rest of the Peanuts gang.

Creating new Christmas memories in these magical settings is guaranteed with a selection of seasonal packages available at Gaylord Hotels. Guests can learn more and book their stay at http://www.ChristmasAtGaylordHotels.com.
