Veteran instructor and past Council of Residential Specialists (CRS) president trains real estate professionals in short sales and foreclosure avoidance with the Certified Distressed Property Expert (CDPE) Designation.

The Distressed Property Institute, LLC announced the addition of George “Gee” Dunsten as an instructor for the industry-leading Certified Distressed Property Expert® (CDPE) Designation training. An active agent having closed more than $200 million in sales, Dunsten will provide real estate agents with the education and processes to help homeowners avoid foreclosure, particularly through short sales.

“I have seen first-hand how homeowners can find positive solutions to foreclosure through knowledgeable, educated agents, and the CDPE Designation training is the most effective short sale education source on the market today,” Dunsten said. “I am proud to join the Distressed Property Institute in creating a greater impact on our industry and distressed homeowners across the country.”

A short sale occurs when the lien holder accepts the sale price of a property that is less than the amount owed on the mortgage. The Distressed Property Institute offers the CDPE Designation to real estate agents, training them how to swiftly assess and pursue homeowners’ foreclosure alternatives, such as short sales and deeds-in-lieu.

“Gee is one of the most renowned educators in real estate. For him to become a Certified CDPE Instructor shows the strength of the CDPE Movement within the industry,” Alex Charfen, CEO of the Institute, said. “With his vast experience and charisma, Gee can help agents turn their businesses around by learning how to help distressed homeowners and clearly understanding short sales.”

Dunsten, a veteran of the real estate industry, is also a senior instructor with the Council of Residential Specialists (CRS) and served as their president in 2001. A graduate of the University of Maryland, Dunsten has taught in all 50 states, as well as Australia, Chile and New Zealand.
