The Orange County Business Journal has honored Ballard & Ballard Jewelers as one of the preeminent family-owned mid-sized businesses in all of Orange County. Nominated for the Family Business Awards, Ballard & Ballard Jewelers represent the very best in long-term family business history in Southern California. With over a hundred years of business experience through five generations of the family, the Ballards helped to establish the jewelry business in Southern California, starting in Los Angeles and expanding to Fountain Valley in Orange County.
In the summer of 1900, jeweler Arthur William Ballard moved his family from the plains of Omaha to the growing city of Los Angeles, where he opened a small retail shop with his son named Ballard & Ballard. Setting up in downtown Los Angeles, Ballard & Ballard became Southern California trailblazers. After sensing that the standards of the Los Angeles jewelry district were falling, the Ballards moved their family business to Orange County over a decade ago.
At this point of true success, brothers Glenn Ballard and Guy Ballard are known as the Mayors of the Jewelry District in Fountain Valley, helping to set the standards of excellence that have come to define the stores. By focusing on a combination of quality and customer service, Glenn Ballard and Guy Ballard offer the very best to their clients, both in terms of traditional care and contemporary technical expertise.
Ballard and Ballard Jewelers specialize in diamonds, custom design, state-of-the-art manufacturing and repairs. Guy Ballard’s specialty is laser welding, while Glenn Ballard focuses on the latest in CAD/CAM computer-aided jewelry design technology. The extensive facilities include a custom on-site jewelry factory, working design studio and full service repair shop.
When interviewed about his experience at Ballard & Ballard Jewelers, a Newport Beach Investment Advisor said: “I can’t say how much I appreciate the Ballards. They are a class operation. Glenn designed a gorgeous ring for my wife and showed me a computer-generated 3D image before they actually made it. My wife thinks I’m a genius.” Glenn and Guy are proud that they have been able to transfer the excellence that their Great-Grandfather Arthur William Ballard began in Los Angeles to the Jewelry District in Fountain Valley and Huntington Beach.
On November 18, 2010 at the Hyatt Regency in Irvine, Cal State Fullerton’s Family Business Council will announce the winners of the 12th Annual Awards for outstanding family firms in all Five Categories (Small, Medium, and Large Businesses, Up & Coming Business, and Longevity Award). Ballard & Ballard Jewelers are proud to be nominated, reflecting over a century of family-owned business success and history in Southern California.
