“The high Feed-in-Tariff in Italy will allow us to sell the electricity produced at our PV facility at a premium, making this solar power investment attractive for our investors and Italian banking institutions.”

Polaris Energy, a Luxembourg-based private equity company, announced the launch of a new photovoltaic solar energy project to be constructed in southern Italy. Upon full completion, the solar energy facility will produce 3 MWh of electricity per year, providing power for thousands of homes and presenting a highly attractive renewable energy investment.

“After careful research, deciding to launch a photovoltaic project in Italy became an obvious conclusion,” said Polaris Energy’s Managing Director Mario Delecce. “The high Feed-in-Tariff in Italy will allow us to sell the electricity produced at our PV facility at a premium, making this solar power investment attractive for our investors and Italian banking institutions.”

Italy is currently the 2nd largest producer of photovoltaic-derived electricity in the world, largely due to the high Feed-in Tariff rate established by the government. Germany, currently the #1 producer of photovoltaic electricity, recently voted to end their Feed-in Tariff policies for PV installations on agricultural land, which were extremely successful in spurring alternative energy investment in photovoltaic project development and installation. On the other hand, Italy’s FiT is in its early stages, causing the current climate for green energy investment in photovoltaic projects in Italy to surge and increasing the willingness of financial institutions to help fund the projects.

Polaris Energy has created the investment framework for individual investors to participate in the potential of the Italian photovoltaic market by launching a project in Southern Italy, set for completion in 2011. Polaris Energy is currently accepting inquiries from qualified and accredited investors who are interested in direct ownership in solar energy. Polaris Energy offers the stability of the private equity community in Luxembourg and employs a Swiss banking platform to ensure financial security for its clients.
