Qbase, LLC, a leading provider of information technology and business intelligence solutions, announced today it has been selected to provide dataset hosting and managed IT services to the General Services Administration (GSA) under a five-year blanket purchase agreement (BPA) with a ceiling of $46 million.
Under the Data.gov Dataset Hosting Services BPA, Qbase will provide hosting platform services for open, transparent government information, as well as technology tools for data quality management, dataset analysis and geospatial visualization services.
"Qbase is excited about participating in this five-year contract with GSA's Data.gov initiative," stated Scott Reynolds, Executive Vice President of Qbase. "We will deliver on our client's vision of expanding open, transparent government to citizens, consumers, academia, statisticians, and developers. Through streamlined access to state-of-the-art technology, users will be able to put information to work and make better use of our country's rich data assets."
Developed by the Federal CIO Council as part of the Open Government Initiative, Data.gov serves as a central portal for citizens to research and analyze government data from more than 300,000 datasets supplied by more than 150 federal agencies. Data.gov provides hundreds of applications to arm citizens with the knowledge they need to stay informed and assist them in making every day decisions. Publicly available Data.gov applications not only assist citizens in researching local community interests, but also provide information on a broad perspective of issues ranging from money management, healthcare, and education to global climate change and international news events.
The site also increases the public's ability to maximize the potential of working with raw data, catalogs, and web linked data to create customized and useful analysis of the data published by government agencies.
