Michael Landon Jr. directs The Shunning for The Hallmark Channel, based on Beverly Lewis' beloved novel of Amish life. Cast includes Danielle Panabaker, Sherry Stringfield, Burgess Jenkins and Bill Oberst Jr.

Production has begun on The Hallmark Channel's film adaptation of the novel The Shunning, directed by Michael Landon Jr. Principal cast members include Danielle Panabaker, Sherry Stringfield, Burgess Jenkins and Bill Oberst Jr,

Based on the 1997 novel by New York Times best-selling author Beverly Lewis, The Shunning tells the story of Katie Lapp (Panabaker,) a young Amish woman who makes a discovery that throws her life into confusion. On the eve of Katie’s wedding to widower Bishop John (Jenkins,) a mysterious "Englisher" (Stringfield) arrives in Lancaster County and startling news comes from her anguished Old Order Amish father (Oberst) and mother. Nothing prepares Katie for the devastation their confession brings. Feeling betrayed, Katie watches as the only life she has ever known begins to unravel, leaving in its wake a furrow of pain…and a future of hope.

The Shunning is slated for air in 2011 on The Hallmark Channel, which has US TV distribution rights. Mission Pictures International will handle international sales along with Affirm Films, a division of Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions. Michael Landon, Jr. and Brian Bird are the executive producers for Believe Pictures and Lightworks Pictures.
