ARMs Plus –Securing Patient and Equipment Data in Motion and at Rest

ARMs-plus brings cyber security to LAN, WAN, and wireless networks serving the medical industry at a level unseen in today’s existing encryption technologies

Heyer Medical AG, an internationally recognized provider of inhalation, anesthesia and ventilation equipment today announced the deployment of its next generation Advanced Remote Management Services (ARMs-plus).

The release of ARMs-plus further advances Heyer’s services and support offerings to meet health care providers stringent cyber-security requirements for the transport and storage of patient records and equipment data.

The technology behind ARMS-plus is provided by Sengex LLC , a McLean VA cyber security and technology consulting firm, in partnership with Unisys, a global provider of information technology services and programs. Based on Unisys’s state-of-the-art “Stealth” security solutions, ARMs-plus enables Heyer customers to achieve the highest level of assurance that any medical related data transferred over a public network or stored in a ‘cloud computing’ environment is secure and only accessible by authorized individuals.

“The protection of patient records and critical life support equipment data that may contain patient related information is of paramount importance to healthcare providers”, said Klaus Schickhaus, president of Heyer Medical AG. “The use of storage networks and cloud computing can benefit medical professionals by giving them access to a platform to share and collaborate information, however, FIPS-level security is necessary to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the information and technological services that are the lifeblood of a health care provider.”

“ARMs-plus brings cyber security to LAN, WAN, and wireless networks serving the medical industry at a level unseen in today’s existing encryption technologies”, said John Meincke, President of Sengex LLC, “ARMs-plus is a transformational way to protect patient and equipment information through its unique methods of encrypting, and bit–splits data into multiple slices as it moves through the network, in addition to allowing multiple communities of interest to share the same network without fear of another group accessing their data or associated equipment. This result in Heyer customers to achieve a much simpler network infrastructure, increased agility of data collaboration and storage, and enhanced security of medical data traversing public and private networks.”

ARMs-plus will be available in January 2011, and offered as both a product and Software as a Service (SaaS) through Heyer and Sengex. To learn more about ARMs-plus, visit Heyer AG at the Medica fair in Dusseldorf /Germany from November 17-20 in Hall 11, B19.
