San Diego, CA (PRWEB) November 17, 2010
Gymkhana GRID is proud to announce DC Shoes and Castrol EDGE as presenting sponsors of the inaugural Ken Block Gymkhana Invitational event at Toyota Speedway at Irwindale on December 3rd and 4th 2010.
The first ever Gymkhana GRID Ken Block Invitational will kick off at Toyota Speedway in Irwindale, CA. Competitors will range from rally racers such as Andrew “ACP” Comrie-Picard, to drifters like Daijiro Yoshihara, Stephan Verdier and Joon Maeng. Drivers will face off against Ken Block on a new Gymkhana course for exciting head to head racing action. This event will be the first of its kind, promising to not only to provide competitors with a new and exciting racing format, but also to give spectators a true, all-out, tire-smoking, sideways-sliding race. And all of this is just a glimpse of what will be coming from Gymkhana Grid in 2011.
“Having a partnership with such strong global brands like DC and Castrol EDGE is a great confirmation for Gymkhana racing as a major motorsport,” said Chris Willard, president and founder of Gymkhana GRID. “With involvement in all major forms of motorsports, DC’s support of Gymkhana racing will help to bring Ken Block’s Gymkhana videos into the arena of live action motorsports! Castrol has been supporting motorsports for decades. Now, with this formal partnership with Gymkhana GRID, Castrol has solidified their foray into the field of alternative motorsports with Gymkhana racing. This is a great endorsement and validation to the strength of our new sport.”
DC and Castrol will be on-site at the Ken Block Gymkhana Invitational, providing an opportunity for spectators to see their newest products. Castrol EDGE will showcase their full performance capabilities through Ken Block’s Ford Fiesta Gymkhana THREE car. DC will provide an on-site store with their latest products and autograph sessions with DC athletes.
