Middle Tennessee’s 2011 ATHENAPowerLink® program is underway, brought to you by Nashville CABLE and First Tennessee Bank. A business mentoring program, ATHENAPowerLink® is designed to grow selected women-owned companies by linking business owners with a high-powered Advisory Panel - including financial, marketing, business development, legal and other specialized experts. Following a needs analysis, the customized Advisory Panel creates a strategic plan for the company to overcome business challenges and establish a springboard for growth in 2011.

Applications for the Class of 2011 are being accepted now through January 17, 2011, and can be found at http://www.aplnashville.org.

Since 1999, ATHENAPowerLink® has helped women-owned businesses in 20+ communities nationwide expand profitably. Participants reported on average an 88% increase in sales, a 38% increase in net income and a 57% increase in personal income. Ninety-three percent of participants reported that they made significant changes to their businesses as a result of the program.

“CABLE has been involved with ATHENAPowerLink® since 2007, and we have a real passion for the program,” said LoLita Toney, President of Nashville CABLE. “A year of consulting by a panel of experts can be extremely valuable for a small business owner, and CABLE is thrilled to make this program available to women in our community.”

“ATHENAPowerLink® is an outstanding program that helps grow small businesses in Middle Tennessee,” said Martin Akin, Senior Vice President of Business Banking at First Tennessee. “Women are increasingly responsible for economic growth through creation of new businesses, and we are always committed to supporting the endeavors of local entrepreneurs.”
