Workshare, a leading provider of document collaboration software, has enjoyed strong ongoing growth and has added over 2,000 new customers in the last year, with more than 600 new customers coming in the past three months.

Legal, engineering, finance, human resources, operations, marketing, compliance, and contract management teams are fueling the growing popularity of Workshare's document collaboration solutions. In addition, Workshare is seeing increased interest for its server-based metadata removal solution from information technology professionals looking to protect the organizations’ high value documents.

“Workshare has focused on understanding the needs of our customers, providing them with the collaboration tools they need as work gets more distributed and complex,” said Scott Smull, CEO of Workshare. “We have been aggressive in our product development and launched a number of new and enhanced products over the past year which have been well received by our customers.”

Beyond new customer growth, Workshare has maintained its existing base, enjoying a strong renewal rate of 93% among its enterprise customers. The company is also seeing the return of customers who had tried alternative products.

“Understandably many customers look to control costs by relying on alternative solutions or the native functionality within Microsoft Office,” said Matthew Brown, vice president of marketing for Workshare. “What they often find are these solutions are not intuitive and do not increase productivity, and even worse, users find they can’t get the support they need when things go wrong.”

With thousands of new customers, a strong customer renewal rate, and several strong product releases this year, customers are validating the productivity savings and security benefits of Workshare’s software.

Recent new product launches and major product releases from Workshare include:
•Workshare Compare for Excel for spreadsheet collaborations
•Workshare Protect Server for hidden data (metadata) removal
•Workshare Protect for desktop metadata removal
•Workshare Professional for Word and PDF collaboration
•Workshare Compare for Word comparison
•Workshare Compare Server for content management systems
•Workshare Compare for PowerPoint for presentation collaborations

In addition to its strong product focus, Workshare has been honored in the last year for its corporate community service program. In September it was named “Rookie of the Year” by the Entrepreneurs Foundation for its philanthropic efforts over the past 18 months as a member of the organization.

Workshare is set to launch two more major product releases this year with a solution for PDF management and a solution to improve the document collaboration capabilities of Microsoft SharePoint. This new solution will provide a Microsoft-enabled front end to SharePoint 2010, allowing professionals to manage documents and email from within Microsoft Office and Outlook while storing documents in SharePoint.
