Twin Cities IT Executive Craig Schmidtke to Lead Virteva’s Private Cloud, Desktop Virtualization and Market Expansion Strategy

Twin Cities-based Virteva, a leader in IT infrastructure consulting and managed services, today announced that Craig Schmidtke has joined its executive team as vice president of business development and product strategy. In this role, Craig will be responsible for aligning Virteva’s managed IT services and its professional services with the opportunities in the market. Craig joins Virteva from SoftBrands/Infor where he was the General Manager for Karyon, a SaaS delivered central reservation service for the hospitality industry, as well the VP of Hosting Solutions.

“Virteva has deep levels of expertise in the core elements of IT infrastructure. It’s this knowledge that we’ll use in helping our customers leverage public and private cloud computing platforms,” said Schmidtke. “In addition to rolling out desktop virtualization services, we’ll continue to expand solutions in storage, network management, End User Computing (EUC) outsourcing and high availability architectures,” Schmidtke added.

Craig has held front line and executive level positions in his 15 year IT career working for companies such as Connect Computer, Agiliti, VeriCenter, SoftBrands and Infor. At VeriCenter Craig was the General Manager for their SMB hosting solution called AppSite Hosting, a 4.5 million dollar division of the company. Craig was also the Director of Business Integration & Planning at VerCenter; a role that focused on developing a profitability analysis framework providing unique insight into key financial metrics & trends.

“Craig has unique insight in the marketplace we serve, along with having product development and operating experience that will help us accelerate the growth of our business,” said Tom Kieffer, CEO of Virteva. “Craig adds an additional dimension to our management team with his software industry experience and his financial modeling background,” added Kieffer.

Craig attended the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota on the Evans Scholarship, a 4-year academic scholarship awarded by the Western Golf Association, where he graduated with a degree in Business Management. Craig also attended the University of London and the London School of Economics where he received a certification in Information Sciences. Craig is extremely active in the local sports community serving as the head coach for variety of youth sports programs such as Soccer, Hockey, Softball and Golf.
