The new technology is here and Nationwide Medical, Inc. is making it easy to get a good night’s rest by offering the new in-home sleep test to consumers who may be at risk for Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA). The in-home technology has been developed as a way to diagnose OSA and enable physicians to prescribe a variety of methods available for sleep apnea treatment.

The in-home sleep test is a new medical technology that offers a variety of benefits, with the average cost a third lower than a sleep study in an overnight facility. More benefits are the ease of use and convenience of completing the test in the comfort of your own home.

“The technology enables patients to get diagnosed for this potentially life-threatening disorder who would otherwise not get tested because of their reluctance to sleep in a strange bed or inability to pay high costs associated with an in-lab sleep study,” Dody Jordahl, Director of High Technology at Nationwide Medical, Inc. said. “We have made the new technology available as a way to serve our patient needs by offering a home solution that is comfortable, easy to use and provides great accuracy of sleep test results.”

Patients and physicians can choose from many types of in-home sleep test kits that Nationwide Medical now provides. Devices are low-cost, patient friendly units that are worn while a patient sleeps in the convenience of their own bed. The sleep data is reviewed by certified sleep technologists and then interpreted by a board certified sleep physician. The patient’s primary physician will then have the data needed to recommend treatment for sleep apnea, if diagnosed.
