Leading marine and offshore safety business Cosalt is to introduce CoreRFID’s CheckedOK application to support its rapidly expanding lifting inspection and testing services business. The system is designed to save time, improve reporting accuracy and provide quick access to a complete inspection and maintenance history through a secure database.
Once set up, Cosalt believes that the CheckedOK system will help reduce the risks involved in lifting operations such as loading and unloading, onboard maintenance and engineering or equipment installation.
CoreRFID’s CheckedOK system collects data on inspections, prompting engineers with the checks needed for a particular item of equipment. The system works with electronic tags on lifting equipment. The tags trigger the list of tasks in the engineer’s hand held computer and collects information on the results of inspections. Once inspections are completed data is fed back over wifi, or GPRS connections. CheckedOK assigns tasks on the basis of staff skills and locations and ensure that tasks are carried out by staff with the appropriate certification. CoreRFID is hosting the database that collates data from the handheld computers. The database system allows staff to retrieve reports on assigned tasks and to view engineer’s photographs of damaged or faulty equipment.
Cosalt is Europe's leading provider of critical safety equipment for the marine, industrial and offshore markets. It supplies, inspects, tests and maintains marine safety equipment, lifting gear, rope, rigging, fire fighting and height safety products. It is also one of the UK's leading providers of protective clothing and equipment to the emergency services, military, transport and construction industries. Cosalt has a European-wide business network that spans 25 separate locations. They anticipate that the system will save costs in collecting inspection data and improve the services that they provide. The company has a reputation for providing first class lifting products and services to the marine, industrial engineering and manufacturing sectors. Its engineers are all highly trained and accredited by the Lifting Equipment Engineers Association (LEEA) to carry out lifting inspection and audit tasks.
This contract is the latest in a series of wins for CoreRFID in the engineering and construction sector where its solutions are used to improve safety and the management of assets. CoreRFID’s electronic tag based systems help companies to comply with health and safety legislation and other regulation by supporting, automating and monitoring inspection processes, saving inspection engineer time, simplifying processes and making results available more quickly.
