Las Vegas Agency Wins 2010 Creative Excellence Awards’ Grand Prize, Other Honors For “Grab Some Air” Campaign

Blaine Warren Advertising announced that it has won the 2010 Creative Excellence Awards’ Dansker Prize, the association’s Best in Show Award, for its Air Force Reserve recruiting campaign calendar “Grab Some Air.” The prestigious award recognizes the best recruitment advertising across multiple industries and disciplines.

The “Grab Some Air” calendar also won the Grand Prize for print advertising and promotions, among other honors. The agency’s “Air Force Reserve: Live The Extreme” 60-second public service announcement won both a Grand Prize and First Place Award for non-print advertising and promotions (TV). In addition, Blaine Warren received 2010 prizes for its Air Force Reserve outdoor campaign, recruiting brochures, print advertising campaign and recruiting booth. The national “Grab Some Air” and “Live The Extreme” campaigns were directed and filmed by Sterling Martell, the agency’s founder and director of photography. The high-energy images show men and women stretching their boundaries as snowboarders, sailboarders and other extreme-sport athletes, just as Air Force Reservists can challenge themselves in an array of action-oriented jobs in their own communities. The Las Vegas ad agency has been similarly recognized in past years for its work for the Air Force Reserve, including a First Prize in 2007 for non-print advertising and promotions (TV). For three decades, recruitment ad agencies and corporate recruiting departments from around the world have entered their best creative advertising campaigns in the Creative Excellence Awards, which are judged by marketing and human resources professionals.

“We’re very pleased by the honors won by the ‘Grab Some Air’ recruiting campaign. This campaign was targeted to a younger audience that has not served in the military before and may not be aware of opportunities offered by the Air Force Reserve,” said Chief Master Sergeant Glen Barnes, Chief of Advertising for the Air Force Reserve Recruiting.
