One of the key benefits for a UK-based business to use IMS is its cost competitiveness while speed of turnaround is second to none.

“We have been one of the best kept secrets in the sector, but no more,” says Tony Randle, general manager of Integrated Mailing Solutions (IMS), the specialist business communications division of the Isle of Man Post Office.
IMS provides a range of services, including mail opening, printing, document scanning and data capture and can cater for up to 80,000 coupon responses for any one client in a day. Revenues soared by 30 per cent last year while investment over the past two years has been around £750,000.
“We bring the mail into an environment where rigorous security standards are in place, open and scan it and then pass on the relevant information to the client,” adds Mr Randle. “We are a small postal administration proving we can successfully take on the goliaths in the sector.”
Today IMS is a ‘one-stop shop’ mailing house, not only for businesses located on the Island but also in the UK and globally. One of its most recent ‘wins’ was an internationally renowned ‘coffee table’ magazine.
“Winning this client – the largest in the 14-year history of IMS – demonstrated we can tender successfully against the largest data capture companies in both the UK and abroad,” said Mr Randle.
“While we have saturated the local market we are now pursuing new opportunities in the UK and beyond and talking to a number of blue chip companies who have already signalled a positive interest for the future. One of the key benefits for a UK-based business to use IMS is its cost competitiveness while speed of turnaround is second to none.”
Isle of Man Post Office can also lay claim to some of the cheapest postal rates in Europe and its basic letter rate is cheaper than that of the Post Office in the UK and also the Channel Islands.
Mr Randle, who has worked for the Post Office for 21 years, said the current economic climate had made businesses become increasingly aware of the need to save costs and outsource aspects of their day-to-day work.
“Our ‘can do’ approach to meet our clients’ needs has led to IMS’s size and capacity more than doubling and we have both the scope and ambition to continue that performance.”
