Former Cognos VP of North America Sales Joins Interactions Corp.

Interactions Corporation, a provider of innovative customer care technology for automated voice platforms and other interactive systems, announced today that Bob Murphy has joined the company as Executive Vice President of Sales. Murphy most recently served as Vice President of North America Sales for Cognos, a leader in business intelligence and financial performance management. He reported directly to Cognos’ President Americas, and was responsible for all aspects of driving sales for a $600 million operating division.

Murphy most recently served as Vice President of North America Sales for Cognos, a leader in business intelligence and financial performance management. He reported directly to Cognos’ President Americas, and was responsible for all aspects of driving sales for a $600 million operating division.

Murphy began his career at Cognos over 13 years ago, starting as a sales representative and rising to senior management where he played a key role in helping Cognos grow from a $20 million company focused on business intelligence revenues to a $1 billion global leader in performance management. Acquired by IBM for $5 billion, Cognos provides software, services and support to more than 23,000 leading companies and organizations around the world.

A graduate of the University of Massachusetts, early in his career Murphy established a reputation as an award winning sales representative, consistently exceeding sales quotas for his past employers; Uniface Corporation Trinzic Corporation Pansophic Systems and JWP Systems.

Interactions also announced that Phil Gray, who served as EVP, Sales and Marketing since 2008, will transition to EVP, Marketing and Business Development. Along with marketing responsibilities, Gray will be focused on strategic alliances and initiatives that extend Interactions’ capabilities to new markets and customers.

As a result of a major uptick in customer demand for Interactions’ HumanTouch™ technology, and a corresponding increase in the volume of consumer calls handled, last month the Company began a new round of hiring in its Indianapolis and Austin locations. The Interactions platform realizes both the value and benefits of automation, while delivering an engaging customer experience beyond that offered by any other system or service currently available.
