Design-savvy meets eco-friendly in Modist's new line of 100% natural canvas totes inspired by iconic mid century modern furniture

Modist, a Los Angeles-based creative design studio, has launched a new line of design savvy and eco-friendly reusable canvas totes, hand screened with images of iconic mid century modern furniture.

The totes are made of undyed, untreated, 100% natural cotton canvas, and hand screened using non-toxic inks with images of the iconic Eames Molded Plywood Chair, Eames Shell Chair, Eames Lounge, and Panton S Chair. The roomy and sturdy 12 oz. totes are perfect for carrying heavier loads, such as books and groceries.

The launch comes on the heels of groundbreaking legislation in Los Angeles County, banning the use of plastic bags in unincorporated areas. "Plastic bags clog our drains, pollute our oceans, and build up in our landfills. And frankly, they're pretty ugly,” says Rosaline Bernstein, Modist's lead designer. “We're just doing our part to help beautify the Earth, one tote at a time."

Modist totes are available for purchase online at the company's website,, and the handmade community of Etsy, at
