APLA is part of a fantastic national Marathon training program, organizing others to get involved
New York, NY (PRWEB) November 19, 2010
New York native and reigning "Queen of Rocktronica," JES will hit the pavement on Sunday, December 12, 2010 as she participates in this year's Honolulu Marathon. The singer/songwriter will participate in her first marathon as a fundraising effort for the LA-based charity APLA (AIDS Project Los Angeles).
"APLA is part of a fantastic national Marathon training program, organizing others to get involved," says JES. "I'm inspired and honored to help support this very important cause and raise money for AIDS."
The Honolulu Marathon begins on Ala Moana Boulevard, which in Hawaiian means "path by the ocean," at 5:00 a.m. on Sunday, December 12, 2010. The race, which annually draws more than 25,000 runners (making it one of the 10 largest marathon races in the world), is 26.2 miles and ends in Waikiki at the Kapiolani Park.
In addition to raising money for an amazing cause, JES will also join an elite group of female celebrity marathon runners including Oprah, Katie Holmes and Sarah Palin. Together with Diddy and David Lee Roth, she is also one of only a few musician marathon runners.
Blowing up with an unprecedented solo career, JES has smashed the one hit wonder clause. As part of the super group Motorcycle, she helped propel the worldwide hit, "As the Rush Comes" to the #1 spot on the charts. Her first solo album DISCONNECT (Ultra Music) in 2007 produced three singles including the #1 Billboard hit, "Imagination." This award winning singer/songwriter has been a driving force behind countless chart-blazing hit collaborations/remixes with Tiësto, Armin van Buuren, BT and other superstar DJs/producers. JES has performed all over the world, for every major club brand and on international TV shows, including the highly prestigious UK hit show, "Top Of The Pops." From JES' integral role on Tiësto's record-breaking Elements of Life Tour, which included the hit, "Everything," to a theme she wrote for Coca-Cola called "Be It All" that followed with a series of concerts at the Beijing Olympics, JES has spread her message of diversity globally and across all genres. Never one to stand still, JES started her own label Planetjes Digital with the U.S. release of "My Love," an irresistible summer 2009 collaboration with Airscape that landed the 10th spot on AOLʼs year-end dance genre chart and earned top spots on Clear Channelʼs I-Heart Radio. In March of this year, JES released her third album, HIGH GLOW (Ultra Music/Black Hole). The next single will be, "Awaken," will be released in two parts: part 1 on December 20th, 2010; part 2 on January 31st, 2011.
