“One of the keys to our success is that we are pioneers in our industry, and have developed new services based on the need and demand of our customers.”

COIT (http://www.coit.com/), a leading supplier of specialty cleaning and disaster restoration services headquartered in San Francisco, is being featured nationally in television commercials filmed for the American Express Booming Campaign. The campaign celebrates successful businesses across the United States, and the commercials showcasing COIT began airing Nov. 17. The spots focus on the company’s successful use of benefits from the American Express Plum Card to invest in business growth.
“We are honored to be highlighted by American Express as an example of how businesses can succeed and grow throughout a variety of economic conditions,” Bob Kearn, President and CEO of COIT, said. “One of the keys to our success is that we are pioneers in our industry, and have developed new services based on the need and demand of our customers.”
Founded in 1950 by Kearn’s father, Lou, COIT was originally a dry cleaning business. Today, COIT has expanded into a company providing not only full-scale cleaning services but disaster restoration services as well, and has earned a reputation for being both customer-centric and innovative. Lou Kearn offered the first customer satisfaction guarantee in the industry, and created a school for drapery cleaning. Graduates of the school started COIT franchise businesses, and the company now has franchises serving more than 60 markets throughout the United States, as well as in Canada and Thailand.
American Express ran full-page “COIT is Booming” ads in The New York Times and the New York Post in July. The television commercial, which was filmed over a three-day period at a COIT location in Los Angeles, features Bob Kearn, who points out that, “Our greatest asset has always been our people.” The spot highlights COIT’s use of the American Express Plum Card as part of its financial management strategies. COIT has hired a number of people, including an employee named Ruben Olague, who appears in the commercial, with money saved through the card’s Early Pay Discount feature.
“Because we purchase goods and services on the Plum Card throughout the year, we earn back enough to cover the equivalent of two full-time employees, or to outfit four trucks with new equipment,” Kearn said.
COIT offers a wide variety of services for both homes and businesses, including carpet cleaning and upholstery cleaning, tile and grout cleaning, air duct cleaning, natural stone care, and emergency restoration services in cases of flood or fire damage. The company’s Nashville franchise was instrumental in saving the city’s Bridgestone Arena after devastating floods hit the region earlier this year.
The commercial will air nationally in heavy rotation through the end of 2010. Other businesses that have been highlighted include Music Direct, an online provider of digital music and audiophile hardware, and Pink Berry, an international frozen yogurt franchisor.
