The flexibility of GL Studio provides the ability to quickly prototype future cockpit development and demonstrate ‘what if’ scenarios for customer evaluation.
Orlando, FL (PRWEB) November 26, 2010
The DiSTI Corporation, a leading provider of advanced graphical interface technology, announces the utilization of GL Studio to help demonstrate BAE Systems’ Hawk Advanced Jet Training System (AJTS). A demonstration of the system, through the patented AJTS 3D Theatre, will be available at BAE Systems’ I/ITSEC booth.
DISTI's GL Studio is being utilized in the development of the Hawk AJTS 3D Theatre and the Hawk AJT virtual cockpit for the BAE Systems’ research and development department. The Hawk AJTS 3D Theatre demonstrates the flexibility of the Hawk AJTS’ avionics and illustrates how it can emulate fifth generation front-line aircraft. The 3D demonstration consists of a stereoscopic synthetic visualization of the Hawk AJT cockpit flying from real aircraft data.
With GL Studio, BAE Systems gains the ability to prototype, test, and deploy their interface designs in real-time, thanks to the unique design architecture provided by the toolkit. GL Studio’s high-performance runtime graphics display engine creates the level of visual fidelity required for fighter jet training systems.
“BAE Systems required a toolset with which we could rapidly produce a dynamic and realistic simulation of the aircraft's instrumentation,” said Mark Green, Simulation Visuals Team Leader at BAE Systems. “The flexibility of GL Studio provides the ability to quickly prototype future cockpit development and demonstrate ‘what if’ scenarios for customer evaluation.”
The Hawk AJTS, recognized among the world's most advanced fast jet training systems, has been adopted for use by the Air Forces of 18 countries across the world. Evolved from over 2.5 million flying hours, the latest version of the AJTS is now entering service with the United Kingdom’s Royal Air Force.
“As GL Studio celebrates its tenth anniversary, the ongoing utilization of the toolkit in technologically advanced training devices is astounding,” said DiSTI President Joe Swinski. “This speaks to GL Studio’s successful adoption among customers and its resounding adaptability in meeting the highly advanced challenges of our day.”
