Preparations are underway for Ridgewood High School’s annual Jamboree Scholarship Fund performance, to be held on February 9-12, 2011. Participant Linda Aktar, a Ridgewood, NJ real estate expert with Tarvin Realtors, urges parents and community members to help in the performance and in raising funds.

A Ridgewood, NJ tradition, the Jamboree has been an annual event since 1947 and has raised over $600,000 in scholarship money over the last six years alone

With auditions recently concluded and the start of rehearsals scheduled for January 4, 2011, preparations are afoot for “That’s Life,” the Jamboree 2011 performance for the benefit of the Jamboree Scholarship Fund. The musical performance by parents of Ridgewood High School students, which will run from February 9 to February 12, 2011, is a way of generating funds for scholarships that will help graduating RHS seniors finance their college education.

“The Jamboree is a great way for anyone to contribute to the community,” says participant Linda Aktar, a Ridgewood, New Jersey real estate expert with leading local firm Tarvin Realtors. “You don’t have to perform or even be a parent. You can be part of the backstage crew, serve in a committee, sell ads to our local merchants, and help obtain donations.”

A Ridgewood, NJ tradition, the Jamboree has been an annual event since 1947 and has raised over $600,000 in scholarship money over the last six years alone. Funds are generated through ticket and advertising sales, as well as individual and corporate donations. Everyone who participates – from the cast members and producers to the orchestra and backstage personnel, are all volunteers.

Many associates from Tarvin Realtors, such as Aktar and Debby Monroe Tarvin, have contributed their time and talents to the Jamboree over the years. This is unsurprising since the firm prides itself not just on its Ridgewood, NJ real estate expertise, but also on its community involvement and strong local presence. “Each one of us at Tarvin Realtors doesn’t just work in the area, we live here as well,” says Aktar. “Participating in community endeavors such as the Jamboree is our way of giving back.”
