NewCom’s Evolution network allows customers to better utilize network bandwidth resources and realize immediate efficiency gains, while safeguarding against outages due to bad weather.
Miami, FL (PRWEB) November 30, 2010
NewCom International, a global communications company specializing in the transport of video, voice and data via satellite, announced today that it has deployed an iDirect Evolution platform over both NSS 10 C-band and T-11n KU-band throughout Africa.
With the launch of the new Evolution-based service from iDirect, a world leader in satellite-based IP communications technology, NewCom ― which deployed the Evolution hub in Latin America last year ― now offers complete service coverage across both Africa and Latin America, ensuring customers on both continents receive optimized bandwidth performance at the most competitive rates possible.
Built on the next-generation DVB-S2 transmission standard with Adaptive Coding and Modulation (ACM), NewCom’s Evolution network allows customers to better utilize network bandwidth resources and realize immediate efficiency gains, while safeguarding against outages due to bad weather.
“The governments, military institutions, GSM operators, and mining and oil sectors we serve operate in some of the most remote regions in these continents and depend on reliable, high performance coverage,” notes Dora Mejia, director of business development for NewCom International. “Because the Evolution platform comes equipped with ACM, it is able to keep links up despite rain or other weather interferences, enabling us to provide the reliability our clients need. And because it works on the smallest antennas, we are able to provide optimized bandwidth at very efficient prices.”
While the Evolution platform for Latin America is managed from NewCom’s Miami teleport facility, the Evolution hub for Africa is being managed by NewCom from its teleport facilities in both Miami and the U.K. NewCom will be using the newest platform to deliver its comprehensive suite of VoIP, video and data services throughout Africa.
"NewCom is playing a major role in bringing satellite communications to critical public and commercial institutions in Africa, which will contribute greatly to the continent’s economic and social development,” notes Rob Kilroy, iDirect’s vice president of sales for the Americas . “With industry expertise and a reputation for delivering excellent service communications, along with the capabilities of our DVB-S2 Evolution platform, NewCom can help open new markets in the future."
