Exercising with a StreetStrider is a great option for individuals like The Biggest Loser contestants because it offers a total body workout and high calorie burn rate without straining one's joints
Fresno, CA (PRWEB) November 30, 2010
On tonight’s episode of The Biggest Loser, the remaining six contestants will compete in a StreetStrider race for the chance to win $10,000. The contestants will race to complete one mile on the StreetStrider, the world’s first elliptical cross-trainer on wheels, during a multi-part challenge.
“Exercising with a StreetStrider is a great option for individuals like The Biggest Loser contestants because it offers a total body workout and high calorie burn rate without straining one’s joints,” said Dr. David Kraus, StreetStrider’s inventor and company president. “The StreetStrider provides the combined benefits of working out on a treadmill, elliptical machine and fitness bike without the physical stresses of these other exercises.”
StreetStrider users get a full body workout by propelling themselves with arm levers and foot platforms that move like a stationary elliptical machine. The StreetStrider’s three-wheel platform makes it easy to balance while riding and the intuitive lean-to-steer system works with the body’s natural movements to effortlessly provide complete rider control.
The StreetStrider has been featured on The Biggest Loser in the past, but this is the first time the product has been used in a challenge. Several former contestants have received a StreetStrider, and find it to be a fun, effective way to help keep the weight off after they leave The Biggest Loser Ranch. Because the StreetStrider can be used outdoors, it offers a more enjoyable workout than a stationary exercise bicycle or elliptical machine, as well as a green transportation option. In tonight’s Biggest Loser episode, airing at 9 p.m. ET, contestants will use the product’s stationary stand, which allows users to exercise inside during inclement weather.
There are currently three StreetStrider models available: the ETX Summit 8r, featured in tonight’s episode, the ETX Sprinter 3r and the Fusion 8r. Two new StreetStrider models, including one designed specifically for children, will be released in 2011. For more information, please visit http://www.streetstrider.com.
The StreetStrider is the world’s first elliptical cross-trainer on wheels for outdoor use. It was invented and patented by David Kraus, PhD. After riding his bicycle to work for more than 20 years and regularly working out on a stationary elliptical machine, David was inspired to combine the two into an efficient, fun outdoor machine. The company was founded in 2007 and is based in Fresno, CA. StreetStrider’s mission is to promote fitness and help fight the adult and childhood obesity epidemic around the world, while offering owners a fun, outdoor full body workout.
