Luxembourg (PRWEB) November 5, 2010
EuroDNS is glad to announce that the Sunrise phase for the new .CO.NO extension is now successfully opened and will be so until January 31st, 2011. This is a great opportunity for all trademark holders to secure their Norwegian-flavored domain names before others can.
Following the Sunrise phase, .CO.NO will Go Live on Tuesday, February 22nd 2011 at 2:00 pm GMT. From that moment on, everyone will be able to register .CO.NO domains that are still available, without restriction and on a “first come first served” basis.
.CO.NO is a new extension for Internet domain names that will open a brand new Internet gateway to Norwegian enterprises and individuals alike, but will also be used by international businesses. Companies and other interested parties will be able to give a Norwegian “flavor” to their Internet presence by using the .CO.NO ending.
Registration requests under the Norwegian TLD .No are sometimes difficult to fulfill due to the strict regulations of the Registry. Thanks to CO.NO, customers will now have the opportunity to display their Norwegian identity on the Internet without any local presence restriction or any limitation on the number of domain names that can be registered by a given individual or company.
"The .CO.NO extension is now open to anyone, with no requirement of local presence or specific tie with Norway," confirms Sander Scholten of CoDNS B.V., the operator of .CO.NO. "Yet because openness does not mean ‘free for all’, we have taken several steps to ensure protection of third parties’ rights”.
Accordingly a Sunrise period is specifically dedicated to Trademark Holders to give them the opportunity to register their brands as .CO.NO names before the system is open to the general public. This Sunrise period will benefit from the expertise of The IP Clearing House, which was already involved in .EU, .Mobi, .Asia, .Tel and co.nl…
EuroDNS is one of the first Registrar to be accredited with the IP Clearing House (or CHIP). This independent entity will validate customers’ requests based on their trademark registrations registries, following their submission using the usual EuroDNS.com interface.
To be considered as part of the Sunrise Phase, the Trademark must be fully registered by January 1st, 2010. The Sunrise is operated on the basis of the first come, first served principle where the time of submission to the Registrar is considered, irrespective of the time when the TM is processed by the IP Clearing House.
The Go-Live Period will be open to everyone on a first-come, first-served basis without any specific requirement. The Go-Live start on February 22nd, 2011 at 2 pm GMT.
“Many of our customers are willing to get an Internet presence in Norway but are deterred by some of the Registry’s restrictions,” comments Xavier Buck, EuroDNS CEO “Since Co.No is much more flexible, it is a great alternative and we are excited to offer it to our customers, individuals and companies from all around the world”.
So get started and capitalize on the new .CO.NO by getting those Norwegian domain names that you’ve always wished for!
Standard Sunrise Registration Price is 75 €. If you wish to Register several domain names based on the same trademark information, the validation fee decreases to 50 € for the second domain using the same trademark.
Customers who have obtained a CHIP code for a TM already validated in the Clearing House, see the price decrease to 21 €. All Sunrise Prices are on top of a 2-years Registration fee of 68 €.
Each domain name registration during Go Live onwards will cost 34 €.
