Community Alliance for Birth Options (CABO) (http://www.projectcabo.org), a non-profit organization announced today they have awarded over $10,000 in scholarship money to over 20 women in California.

Established in 2008, CABO is a non-profit organization that supports the efforts of women and families to retain alternative options for non-interventive care and natural childbirth. The CABO Scholarship was designed to financially assist expecting women in California that have shown an interest in delivering their babies in a natural environment, which can include the use of a Midwife or Doula. “Many women are unable to fulfill their birth plan due to financial hardship or lack of insurance coverage. We are thrilled as an organization to fulfill their desired birth plan,” stated Board Member, Erin Johansen. “As the year comes to a close, CABO anticipates awarding an additional $2,000.00 in scholarship money to applicants,” concluded Johansen.

In addition to attending numerous community outreach and educational programs throughout the year, CABO will be hosting a Holiday Evening Fundraiser. The Fundraiser will be held on December 10, 2010, at the Coto De Caza Golf & Racquet Club.
