Terra Marketing Group was proud to announce how much fun they had building homes for Habitat for Humanity Edmonton. On Nov. 30, their CEO took five of his employees out to help build decks and haul drywall. They said it was a pleasure to meet such great talented people. The site supervisors were eager to teach the internet marketers a new skill set. Terra Marketing Group even got to work alongside a family who will be moving into a home in December.

Terra Marketing Group, an Alberta-based Internet marketing company, sent six of its people out to help build homes for Habitat For Humanity Edmonton on Nov. 30.

“We had a great time helping haul drywall and building two decks,” Jesse Willms, the company CEO said. “We worked hard and felt great. But, it was cold out there. I don't think we've ever appreciated getting back to our warm offices more than we do today. We certainly have an appreciation for the work all those guys do out there.”

Terra Marketing Group is an online company that believes in targeting emerging niche markets, finding ways to improve existing products and services and then eventually dominating that market segment through aggressive advertising.

The Terra Marketing Group team that went out and worked with Habitat For Humanity was composed of the company's CEO and five of his employees.

“It was really fun,” Jesse said. “We even had a competition against one of the other teams to see who could get the drywall into the home the fastest. We won, but just barely. If nothing else, it was one way to keep warm!” The group even enjoyed building decks for two of the homes.

Habitat For Humanity believes that one of the most effective ways to beat the cycle of poverty is to help move people out of rental apartments and into homes that they can afford. That way they build up equity in the home with their mortgage payments rather than simply handing over most of their rent checks to their landlords.

Habitat For Humanity International was founded in 1976 and Habitat For Humanity Canada was founded in 1985, but it wasn't until 1991 that Edmonton launched its own local Habitat For Humanity branch. Since then Habitat For Humanity Edmonton has built more than 130 homes for people in our community.

“What was important to us was knowing that we were using our time to do something good for the community,” Jesse said. “We are very dedicated to being good neighbors and the best corporate citizens we can be. We've always been dedicated to finding reputable organizations to volunteer for and Habitat For Humanity knows how to get the job done.”

Terra Marketing Group has volunteered their time for a variety of Edmonton nonprofit groups including The Mustard Seed food bank, Santas Anonymous, the Run For The Cure and the Santa Shuffle.

“Helping our community is a lot of fun,” Jesse said. “I'm sure we'll be back to do it again as soon as possible!”
