Rittenhouse, long-time Ecommerce retailer of landscaping, horticultural and industrial supplies has announced two new payment gateways: PayPal and Google Checkout on its website, http://www.rittenhouse.ca. These new payment options give both Canadian and American customers another choice to standard credit cards. “Although we have a very secure checkout process, there are a certain percentage of online shoppers who use alternative payment gateways like PayPal or Google Checkout exclusively. It was time that we accommodated those shoppers”, said Marketing and Business Development Manager Aaron Rittenhouse. By catering to those shoppers, Rittenhouse is hoping to increase both the company’s sales and customer base.

PayPal and Google Checkout are nothing new to the Ecommerce world, but their use is still growing. PayPal has a handy counter on their website, which shows there are more than 226 million accounts worldwide, and that tally is growing. As more online shoppers become familiar with the PayPal and Google Checkout names, the more value it has being an option on an Ecommerce website. “When customers see the PayPal or Google Checkout buttons, it lets them know we are a legitimate business. It’s a win-win situation: the customer receives a second secure payment option and we gain customer confidence”, Rittenhouse says. Helping raise customer confidence in your online company is a good way to keep them coming back, and repeat business is a great thing. In the online industry it can cost up to six or seven times more to acquire new customers than retain previous ones.

It is very conceivable that in the future online shoppers won’t just demand an alternative payment option, the will expect it to be there, and if it’s not, they will simply move on to the next store. “It may seem that we are a little late to the party, but late is better than never. And, the way the future appears to be unfolding, we are right where we need to be,” Rittenhouse concludes.

Rittenhouse has over 50 functioning Ecommerce websites selling more 13 000 products and parts. Focusing on Garden Tools, Rittenhouse Sprayers, professional landscaping equipment, Hypro pumps and home and garden products. Rittenhouse was founded in 1914 and is a third generation family owned business located in St. Catharines Ontario Canada but ships products worldwide.
