SKOUT
Skout is perfectly positioned to disrupt the online dating market. Skout represents what all dating companies must become to not only just remain relevant, but to survive.
San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) December 30, 2010
2010 was the year of "location based love" thanks to revolutionary app Skout.com. The very first mobile flirting app for the iPhone and the Android, Skout helped to connect over two million singles this year alone. According to Brian Gettleman, a New Yorker who met his fiance through the app, "Skout changed the game of online dating by helping singles meet each other in real time, rather than through a system of long drawn out emails found on more traditional dating sites." Gettleman, who met his lady love while shopping at Hugo Boss in the Time Warner Center credits Skout with single-handedly changing the way singles meet one another and he's not alone. Over 10,000 new users joined Skout every single day in December 2010. According to Gary Kremen, Founder of Match.com, "Skout is perfectly positioned to disrupt the online dating market. Skout represents what all dating companies must become to not only just remain relevant, but to survive."
Skout pioneered what is known as "gps dating", using the iPhone's unprecedented gps technology to help singles meet and flirt based on proximity. The founder of the site, 29-year-old Christian Wiklund, felt rather than gauging compatibility based on a series of exhaustive surveys, "Skout aims to connect like minded singles based on location. If you're at the arthouse theater and I'm at the arthouse theater, chances are we have something in common. The same can be said for most locations."
Skout launched in 2009 as the hottest, newest and most fun way to meet singles mobilely and today is one of the most popular iPhone apps. Millions of members exchanged tens of millions of messages this month alone and countless romances have been launched. The average user spends at least 40 minutes per day "Skouting."
According to Wiklund, "Skout has grown exponentially in 2010 and we expect 2011 to be even bigger. If your new year's resolution is to find love or just a fun fling in the new year, Skout is the hottest destination in the app store."
