In the latest episode of "Advancing Your Photography," host Marc Silber sits down with famed photojournalist and professional photographer Neal Menschel. During the interview at, Menschel talks about what it's like to photograph important world events, as well as tips and tricks that beginning photographers can use to improve their own photography.

With a career that spans over 25 years, Neal Menschel has photographed everything from the fall of the Berlin Wall to Nelson Mandela celebrating the end of apartheid in South Africa. In the past his clients have included Newsweek and the New York Times, and he served as the director of photography at the Christian Science Monitor for 13 years.

Menschel is a master at capturing beautiful, realistic images of people. His work is recognized throughout the worlds of art and photojournalism for its combination of simplicity and depth, and his unique ability to communicate the fundamentals of photography makes him both an artist and a wonderful teacher.

During the interview, Menschel discusses specific tricks and techniques that new photographers can use to get better at taking their own photographs. For example, Menschel believes one of the keys to capturing great photos is all in the relationship between the photographer and his or her subject.

"Its like i need that person for the story, and they need me in order to be able to tell the story," he says. "Photography then becomes a collaboration."
