Dozens of accomplished marimbists from around the globe will be traveling to Amsterdam this summer as the renowned Zeltsman Marimba Festival will be held for the first time outside North America. This will be the ninth edition of the festival, founded and named for Marimba One artist Nancy Zeltsman, who teaches the instrument at the Boston Conservatory and Berklee College of Music.

Zeltsman directs the gala event that brings together students and faculty for two weeks of concerts, masterclasses, lessons and lectures. She also raves about Marimba One, which she says “is my voice.” She adds, “If it’s not Marimba One, I’m faking it. Marimba One’s craftsmanship is exquisite; their quality unparalleled.”

An extra added attraction at the festival will be an enlightening talk about the art of making marimbas by Marimba One creator Ron Samuels. His lecture will be at the festival site, the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, starting at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, July 2. For festival details, go to ZMF Website.
