Within the pages of Billy Gray’s new Xulon Press book, From Prosecutor to Prison to Preacher ($10.99, paperback, 978-1-60791-113-5), the author tells his story in his own words. A gifted, privileged person whose priorities became estranged from the Spirit-filled world and entangled in the affairs of man, Gray began to dabble in real estate developments and later found himself behind bars. But God, the ever patient King, continued to abide within him until his heart was broken and restored to fellowship. At this point, God became a light unto his feet.
“The intriguing story of how one can fall from the pinnacle to the abyss and still be redeemable is a testimony of God’s faithfulness (Rom. 8:28),” the author says of his book.
After hearing his testimony, many of his friends and family members encouraged him to write a book. Although this was totally outside of his comfort zone—and his realm of experience—he began to write down events as he recalled them pertaining to certain events in his life. “Some recalls were painful and emotionally draining, and I would abandon the efforts for weeks or months,” he explains. But eventually, through the grace of God and the help of friends, he was able to finish the book and publish it to help enlighten others about the working of God’s hand in His children’s lives.
Born to Walter and Tricie Gray in Memphis, Tennessee, Gray says his core values were drawn from his devout Christian parents as well as from his years at Battle Ground Academy. He is married to Patricia Derrington, R.N., They have two children, Ty and Trista.
