James' desire was that as a consequence of his studies, the readers of the book would have some new perspectives and a clearer understanding of the book of Revelation

The book of Revelation is fascinating because it weaves together—in symbolic form—the final outcome of God’s intentions for all creation. It was a mystery unknown to the world until Jesus came. Now this mystery has been revealed. In The Overcomers: The Book of Revelation of Jesus Christ ($18.99, paperback, 978-1-60791-620-8), a new Xulon Press title by the late Dr. James Duren, the author has penned a study of Revelation that is sure to challenge, inspire, and edify even the most hardened of cynics. This original and thought-provoking study will provide fresh new insight into what is widely considered to be one of the most enigmatic books of the Bible.
“James’ desire was that as a consequence of his studies, the readers of the book would have some new perspectives and a clearer understanding of the book of Revelation,” his wife, Ellen Duren, says. She adds that the book will especially resonate with readers because “James was recognized for his intelligent, insightful thinking.”
According to Mrs. Duren, the author studied the book of Revelation for literally thousands of hours, beginning in his seminary days and continuing through 41 years of extremely busy missionary service. “After retirement, James was inspired to write in book form the conclusions he was coming to in his studies,” she explains. “Thus, after six more years of thorough study, he had a manuscript almost ready for publishing when he was suddenly graduated to heaven.”
Dr. James Duren received a Master of Divinity and Doctor of Divinity degree from Denver Theological Seminary and a Doctor of Ministry degree from Fuller Seminary.
