Associates donate time, money to support inner city baseball league

On behalf of Kansas City, Kansas RBI I would like to thank for putting our youth into a position to make dreams a reality. has long been an active supporter of some of Kansas City’s finest community organizations. This spring,, with the help of some of its 775 local employees, is lending a hand to the Reviving Baseball in the Inner Cities (RBI) program ( in Kansas City, Kansas.

The RBI program, part of Success Achieved in Future Environments (SAFE), provides opportunities for inner city youth to participate in organized baseball. SAFE was actually founded by a employee, Cle Ross. Ross created SAFE to purchase and rehabilitate the abandoned Wyandotte County 3&2 baseball fields on Parallel Parkway and to re-establish baseball leagues for the boys and girls of Kansas City, KS. SAFE was recently able to establish an affiliation with Major League Baseball. The organization expects 500 youngsters to sign up for teams in 2010, up from 155 last year.

Last month, over two dozen volunteers from invested some sweat equity into the RBI program by helping clean up some ball fields. The volunteers cut down trees, raked, trimmed, swept and disposed of a tremendous amount of litter and other debris to help ready the fields for summer ball games.

When the teams take the field this summer, two will be sponsored by Employees participated in a raffle fundraiser, raising money (which was then matched 100% by the company) to provide the team with uniforms. A very successful sports equipment donation drive will help those children who are unable to afford their own bats and gloves.
